To me, the ED-1 is the culmination of years of my personal obsession, dedication and creativity, inspired by questions like ‘What defines the ultimate everyday watch?’ and ‘If I could wear one watch for life, what would it be?’

“With the ED-1, I delved deeply into the depths of my mind, in search of a design that resonates with the core of my sensibilities as a designer. Simultaneously, we incorporated several iconic design elements that our fellow enthusiasts might be familiar with. This includes the handset from the Organic Time series, an enhanced bracelet inspired by the Time Companion series, the balanced dial design of the SD-1, and the sandwich construction from the SD-2, which improves legibility. From my perspective, the ED-1 is as pure as it gets in terms of its design language, reflecting my identity as a designer.” – Emmanuel Dietrich

Indeed, while these two words are not often seen together, especially in watch design, at DIETRICH, we thrive on challenging norms, even when they seem unconventional and intimidating. Our approach was straightforward: if you had to choose just one watch for every occasion. The ED-1 is designed for individuals who defy conventions, aiming to distinguish themselves in a sea of standard “cookie-cutter” designs. It caters to those who embrace uniqueness beyond the norm, appreciating high-end quality at an accessible price point—much like Emmanuel himself.
